Lentikats Biotechnology has been in continuous development since 1999 within the scope of the following projects:
1) Second generation biofuels production from renewable resources and their conversion to biobutanol by technology and equipment optimisation with immobilised biocatalysts.
| Partner | Chemcomex Praha, a.s. |
| Duration |
1/2008 - 12/2011 |
| Project Objective |
Design of the technology for butanol production from waste and renewable sugar resources using the technology and equipment working with immobilised biocatalysts for alcohol fermentation. Using this new technology based on new types of biocatalysts, it will be possible to effectively process all renewable and waste sources (grain, maize, molasses, straw and bran hydrolyzates) in new bioreactors and technological units with high levels of butanol yield. |
2) Assessment of the applicability of Lentikats Biotechnology for ethanol production from acid pressure hydrolysis products.
| Partner | SEKAB E-Technology |
| Duration |
10/2008 - 12/2009 |
| Project Objective |
To gain the basic information about the possibility of ethanol fermentation of the wood chips hydrolysate delivered by the company SEKAB E-Technology. The main objective is to select and test suitable ethanol producers and to determine their activities and ethanol yields in different operational modes (batch, semi-continuous, continuous mode). A pilot-scale testing of the Lentikats Biotechnology will follow the laboratory testing. |
3) Research & development of a technological equipment for ethanol producition based on the immobilised bacteria Zymomonas mobilis.
| Partner | Chemcomex Praha, a.s. |
| Duration | 3/2008 – 12/2008 |
| Project Objective |
Research and development of a technology for bioethanol production from cereals using immobilised bacteria Zymomonas mobilis. The tested technology for conversion of glucose solutions containing gluten and cellulose residues will allow to verify the life-time of encapsulated bacteria Zymomonas mobilis in the conditions of longterm operation and mechanical loading. |
4) Optimisation of the fermentation conditions in a continuous process of ethanol production from sugar cane molasses
| Duration |
10/2007 – 7/2008 |
| Project Objective |
Proposal for the implementation of Lentikats Biotechnology for ethanol production from sugar cane molasses in an existing distillery. |
